Vets Fishing With Vets
Janet (Jan) Moore- Jan was born August 23, 1947 in East Northport, L.I., N.Y. and moved to South Windsor, CT. during her Junior year in High School. Jan graduated from South Windsor High School in 1965 and moved to Tampa, FL. in 1969 where she met and married Mike on July 26, 1973. They have 6 children and 13 grandchildren. Mike & Jan considered retirement and moved to Islamorada, FL in 1992 where she managed the historic Islamorada Fishing Club. During that time she founded a series of both off-shore and back-country fishing tournaments. When the opportunity to move to Texas was presented she loved the idea and challenge of working with her husband to build, run and market Redfish Bay Boathouse & Redfish Willie’s Waterfront Grill. Vets Fishing with Vets has been a dream of hers for several years. She is honored and humbled by the response the event has already received and believes every Veteran should be honored and thanked for their service to our great country.
Michael Moore- Michael (Mike) Moore was born in Marion, Ohio on April 19, 1949. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Tampa, Florida. After High School at H. B. Plant Mike enlisted in the Army and was soon headed for Viet -Nam. Stationed in Saigon with the 716th Military Police Battalion for a year, followed by Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN and Landstuhl, Germany. After serving in the Army Mike moved home to Tampa and returned to the petroleum business started by his father. As a Top Performer Shell dealer Mike was appointed to the National Dealer Council, Awarded Dealer of the Year 2 times along with numerous state and district awards. Mike married Jan in 1973 and have 6 children and 13 grandchildren. In 1992 Mike moved to Islamorada, FL. due to his love of fishing and the water. While in Islamorada he and 2 friends founded The Ladies Original Dolphin Tournament which now boasts being the largest all female off shore tournament in the world. Mike began consulting in Marina Service and Parts which eventually lead to the move to Texas. In 2011 Mike were approached by a close friend to move to Texas and develop and manage a marina for him. The fit has been great with the ability to market and promote dry stack boat storage, restaurant and seasonal events in Texas. Mike is honored to be part of Vets Fishing with Vets and promises it will definitely be a Star Spangled Celebration for ALL Veterans.
Larry Johnson- Larry was born February 4, 1947 in Polson, Montana and graduated from High School in 1965 from Clarkston/Washington High School. Larry spent 17 years Retail Management then worked for the Boeing Company for 29 years. He married Susan on July 16, 1988 in Greenville, Mississippi and was transferred to Maryland where he spent the last 21 years a Andrews Airforce Base supporting Air Force One. Larry retired September 2008 and moved to Portland, Texas. Larry is humbled and excited to be part of the 1st Annual Vets Fishing With Vets Tournament because he is dedicated to our service men and women and wants to be able to support ALL Veterans.
Susan Johnson- Susan was born March 1, 1961 at Williams Air Force Base in Higley, Arizona. Susan grew up in Greenville, Mississippi and graduated from Delta State University in 1984 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She married Larry on July 16, 1988 in Greenville, Mississippi and moved to Maryland. Susan worked as a Medical Social Worker and the last 11 years worked for St. Mary's County Department of Social Services Foster Care/Adoptions Unit as the Foster Home Licensing Worker and Foster Care Worker for medically fragile children. She retired September 2008 and moved to Portland, Texas. Susan is honored to be a part of the 1st Annual Vets Fishing with Vets Tournament and thanks all of those that have served and kept our country safe. Susan looks forward to supporting ALL Veteran's and their families by supporting the Fisher House.
Eva Thornton- An award-winning creative director from Fort Worth, with 25+ years experience in advertising, marketing, PR and design , Eva is now happily living her dream of designing, writing, and fishing on her dock by the Copano Bay.
Jeanie Evans- Having been a Navy spouse, I understand completely the toll that life takes on not only the service member, but their family. I am very passionate about Vets Fishing with Vets and equally passionate about fishing. I am a proud supporter of my husband for his service to our country and his endeavors in Redfish tournaments so when I heard about this event I was all in. Giving back to the veterans in any way is very important to me and with my experience helping to conduct other fishing tournaments and the vast experience with event planning I felt I could be an integral part of the team here at Vet Fishing with Vets.
Nancy Edson- I was born and grew up on a farm in a small town in Maine. Graduated from college and went to work at Dow AFB, Bangor Maine. I married my husband, Dan Edson, an Air Force man who spent 20 years as an Accounting & Finance officer. We have two daughters and the second time we were stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas, we stayed in Austin. I worked at several bases, then in Austin, I worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 26 years. We both retired in 2003, spent 2 years at our lake house on Lake LBJ, then moved to Kyle, Texas near our younger daughter while we had a house built on a canal in Aransas Pass, Texas. We moved to our new house at the coast in late 2009.
Dan Edson- I was born in Horseheads, New York and lived there through 5th grade, then moved to Louisville, Kentucky for two years. I came back to New York and lived in Port Chester through junior year in high school. I went to Bordentown Military School my senior year as my parents moved into New York City and felt high school might be rough. I then attended William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia for 2 years and joined the Air Force in April 1964. I reached the level of Technical Sargent in 7 years during which time I received my college degree from InterAmerican University in Puerto Rico. I then went to Officers Candidate School and was a Finance Officer until my retirement in May 1984 from Bergstrom AFB, Austin Texas. My civilian career was as an Accounting Manager, first for Tracor Aerospace, then Applied Materials. I retired in 2003. We moved to our lake house on Lake LBJ for two years, then moved to Kyle, TX near our daughter while we had our house built in Pelican Cove, Aransas Pass, TX where we now live.
Raymond Gallagher- I am married with one daughter and three grandchildren, was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1968. He entered the Army in 1969 and did 1 ½ tours in VietNam. He earned a BBA in Business/Engineering from Texas A & I in Kingsville in 1976 and an MBA in 1981. With 25 years of experience as a home builder, he was on the Corpus Christi Builder’s Association Board of Directors for 13 years and also served as President in 2003. Currently, Raymond is part owner of Myers-Gallagher Real Estate, LLC which includes Coldwell Banker Myers-Gallagher and Aransas Property Management. He is also part owner of Westwood Owners Land Development. He spent 3 years as a board member of the Aransas Pass Chamber and presently works with “Keep Aransas Pass Beautiful”, “Destination Downtown Aransas Pass”, and “Vets Fishing with Vets”. Likes the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and golf. Most proud achievement - Eagle Scout.
